Car companies like Nissan work along with federal firms and independent businesses to make it possible for a lot of people to own an EV. The government is also putting a small fortune into research needed for making this a reality. On the other hand, it will be many, many years before the infrastructure is solid enough as a way to support a large number of users. Hopefully will their hard work, the proper infrastructure might be available soon!
