The tale begins with Daniel Boone's birth in Pennsylvania in 1734. He is out hunting, and kills a bear when he is 15 years old. He was also an explorer, finding the Blue Ridge Mountains and exploring parts of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. He is captured by indians but he is able to escape.
